How many driving lessons do I need in Victoria?

There is no minimum number of professional driving lessons required in Victoria.

To get your probationary licence you must be at least 18 years old and confident driving in a variety of conditions.

If you are under 21 there are additional requirements to meet. You must also:

• complete at least 120 hours of supervised driving.
• complete 20 hours of supervised driving at night.

If you are over 21 you do not need to complete a set number of supervised driving hours.

What do I need to bring to my first lesson?

You need to bring:

• your learners permit (physical or digital) – it is a legal requirement to carry your permit while driving on Victorian roads.
• your logbook or MyLearners app if this applies to your permit.
• any glasses or corrective lenses you need to wear while driving, if required.

Do you provide a car for the lessons?

A 5-star ANCAP safety rated vehicle is provided so you don’t need to worry about having your own vehicle yet.

My car has the latest technology and safety features, including dual controls to provide extra support to learners who aren’t yet confident on the roads.

I have full comprehensive insurance for my vehicle.

Can I learn in my own car?

If you desire to learn in your own car there will be an assessment by the driving instructor to assess your abilities and driving skills to determine if you capable of driving your own vehicle without any assistance.

Any liability or circumstances that requires insurance will be the vehicle owners responsibility.
